I'm getting a sore throat and I am very, very, scared.
I never did get that tonsillectomy, like I was supposed to, and this recent turn of events could force the issue... hopefully, I don't end up in the hospital later this week 'cause it'll totally negate the New-Years do-over this weekend. :-/

In other news...

My car's still broken. I can't get an appointment anywhere until next week.

Rehearsals for the play started, on Sunday nights... seriously, not the best time, but whatcha gonna do?
However, the play is scheduled to compete on a SATURDAY MORNING! bastards. I don't know how early yet, but still, the morning is never good to me. Also, I don't expect anyone to come and see it now.... but, it's at the Port Tobacco Players Theatre in LaPlata, MD. More info at www.mctfa.org (2006 Festival)

Saturday, I went to The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture with my mom... there was sooo much info, we couldn't see all of it in one afternoon. Fun, though.

Sunday, celebrated Zoe's 3rd b-day with my folks. They bought her a pink Disney Princess keyboard which she loves(!), but makes me wish that my parents were not so vindictive. ;-P The keyboard part is fine, it's the bright pinkedness of the thing, while it plays princess songs over and over, that is truly offensive. Luckily, Zoe is cute when she's happy... and hopefully she'll still play cars and legos with me as an alternative.

um... Also, the History Channel last night had a documentary about why Americans love beer. Apparently, only 11% of Americans drink wine (and mostly on the coasts). An ice-age killed the grape-vines in Northern Europe, 200 years prior to their migration to the US. Their default-reliance on wheat for beer and whiskey migrated with them. Before this, it was considered an inferior drink. Kind of reminded me of chicken, and that people can convince themselves of anything.

Then I watched the Care Bear's movie with Zoe this morning which was about a lonely boy who cast a spell on the world to make misery his company. The Care Bears had to prove to him that he was loved to save the day. They did this by shining rainbows, hearts, flowers, and balloons in his face until he gave in.

In my sick, sleepy state at 8am the two shows swirled around in my head with little differentiation, and I concluded that the optimists protect us from believing we're a product of our environment and the pessimists keep the "Care Bear Stare" from blinding us.
