So I started working again yesterday... it's been a looong summer, but somehow not long enough.

So I manage to miss the 2 "begining of the year meetings" without anyone getting pissed off. (Score!) But I did actually have a real excuse, as my truck was in the shop and I was still pretty sick. Even though I was stuck at home and feeling miserable, it was still better than having to go to the meetings. & I know everyone says that about meetings, but it seriously true about these particular meetings...

They get the whole company together (about 100 people) at 9am, serve cold bagels with warm, nasty butter substitute and decaf coffee. Then everyone gets to sit there  listening to a "motivational" speaker talk about the same thing for 5 hours... and because the topic is about children, the speaker thinks they can talk like you are the child. Listening to a 45ish year-old talk in baby-talk for that long gets really annoying. & Sometimes they even have crafts for you to do, like gluing popsicle sticks together, to prove how fun they are. oh boy! >:-/

After the motivational speaker is finished, you get to stick around for another 3 hours listening to the "big boss" (and owner of the company), recap everything that was just said. Then they add about 25 pages to the employee handbook that, of course, they go over with a fine tooth comb before you can leave. My employee handbook, to say the least, is about as big as 3 of my college text books now.

Then yesterday, I actualy made it into my center, & I got to point and laugh at everybody who had to go. HA HA. ; ) Then my boss threatened to tell on me for never going to the inital orientation, 3 years ago when I got hired. So, I shut up. lol. But then she told me that I got a promotion this year. WhooHoo!! So, I am now officially "Assistant Director" for my center... not that I haven't been acting as one since I started working there. It's okay though, I really love my boss/Director... so I really didn't mind except that they weren't paying me for it. But now they are... can I get a "woo-woo" for $15 an hour? Awww Yeahhh! :-D

So now we're just setting up and getting ready for the 75 children we'll have this year. But still, I'm looking forward to seeing some of the same trouble-makers again this year... I love the "bad", mischivous kids... they're just cooler somehow. But I am gonna miss my Jamal, who is not coming back this year... he was a mentally handicapped child with a mild case of Turrets Syndrome. Something about a 5 year-old screaming out "booby" and "penis" at random moments, and then saying "that was not appropriate"... just pulls on those heart-strings. *sigh*
